Result : ESENTEPE KKSK 3 KARŞIYAKA SK 2 (Friendly Match).
Tuesday September 27th at Esentepe Erdal Barut Stadium
A late 84th minute goal by substitute Emrah clinched a win for Esentepe in this very entertaining friendly match. Karşıyaka who play in the same League as Esentepe played their part as well, with both teams playing some fine attacking football.
Karşıyaka shook Esentepe when they took the lead in the 3rd minute when a long ball saw Esentepe defender Nersin on the wrong side of his marker. With the Esentepe player unable to get in a challenge the Karşıyaka striker prodded the ball past Ali at the near post.
This goal put Esentepe out of their stride and Karşıyaka were the better team, they should have increased their lead in the 31st minute, when from a free kick, which was not cleared, the ball ran invitingly to an opposing player, who from close range miss kicked, allowing Ali in the Esentepe goal to parry it onto a post.
With Başak and Uğurcan in the Esentepe midfield beginning to link up well Esentepe had their best spell of the game. Başak tried a clever lob on the right which bounced off the Karşıyaka bar. Then a mistake by two opposing defenders allowed new signing Tacettin a clear scoring opportunity but the striker screwed his shot horribly wide.
Esentepe pressure finally paid off in the 40th minute when following an Uğurcan cross from the right, Başak controlled the ball and passed to Eser (playing unusually on the left), who stroked it past the visitors goalkeeper.
42 minutes Esentepe were in front again. Başak was the provider finding Tacettin who with a clever back flip put Umar clear and the winger finished with a shot past the keeper.
Karşıyaka equalised with their first attack of the second half through a penalty which was given, I think, for pushing.
50th minute after a good cross from the right by teenager Emre Soytürk laid a perfect cross for Reşat to strike, but somehow the Karşıyaka keeper managed to block his effort.
With both teams making numerous changes it didn’t really affect the game which remained entertaining.
Karşıyaka were awarded another penalty in the 78th minute after Uğurcan fouled an opposing player just inside the box. Unfortunately the penalty was missed as the taker blasted it over the bar.
It was all action in the 81st minute, Esentepe replacement keeper Tuğrul pulled off an amazing save, somehow pushing a close range effort over the bar.
Then came Emrah’s winner, who finished well shooting past the visitors keeper from the right.
A good workout for both teams, both Coaches should be happy with their teams’ efforts. Uğurcan for Esentepe was very impressive in midfield, defence attack and everywhere and linked up well with Başak who made some telling passes. Once again Firat in the home defence was strong and is forming a solid partnership with Nersin.
