Great Voices joined to promote peace and cooperation

Caterina Cornaro, Queen of Cyprus, a woman surrounded by women who have joined their hands and voices to promote peace and to show that bridges for living and working together is possible.

There is Rita Severis of CVAR – Centre of Visual Arts and Research in Nicosia – whose motivation is bicommunal cooperation;

There is Demetra George Mustafaoglu, Soprano;

There is Katie Economidou, Mezzo Soprano

There is Lenia Kallis, Soprano;

There is 10 year old Peri Sualp, student at English School of Kyrenia, (allround talent – studying voice with Demetra George Mustafaoglu);

And there is Agni Sacca, piano accompanist.

‘Concerts Without Borders’ was the organiser of the concert on September 19, 2016. It is a bi-communal association of musicians and singers which aims at raising funds for charitable causes throughout Cyprus. ‘Concerts Without Borders’ is pleased to be able to contribute to the raising of awareness about CVAR and helping towards its sustainability, a unique Centre which unites the arts and culture of the island of Cyprus, past and present.

We were led through a garden of music, from famous opera arias to songs from musicals and folkloric character in Greek and Turkish.  The moon stood above our heads and a good breeze was cooling our hot ears on the wide terrace of the CVAR building. Approximately 150 guests had come to listen to the music fit for a queen.  It was a charming evening.
