By Margaret Sheard……
We recently received news from Sue Tilt of Help Those with Cancer Association (Tulips) of a new Tanning and Beauty Salon which has been opened by Natasha Atik (known as Tasha) who is a very loyal and generous supporter of Tulips.
The Salon is situated in a very nice building on the main Lapta road just past Freddie’s Restaurant and Bar. We initially called in while in the area and were shown all of the facilities, by Jean Bradley, which cover 3 floors and we were very impressed with all that we saw and amazed that after only 4 weeks everything looked so well established. The decor is beautiful and a great deal of thought has been given to making this Salon a place to enjoy while being pampered.
There are many treatments to choose from – Hands, Feet, Waxing, Eyelash/Eyebrow, Facials, Tanning (spray and sunbed), Massage and lots more. The Salon also provides packages for Bride to Be and Mum to Be as well as pamper and massage packages and also gift vouchers are available to give someone in your life a wonderful experience.
The Salon is open Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday/Friday from 9am to 6pm (closed on Thursdays), Saturday 10am to 6pm and Sunday 12noon to 6pm. Tel: 0533 855 9988 or 0533 888 7188. During the current hot spell, the Salon will also be closed on Sundays for the months of July and August and perhaps into September but will then revert to the opening times given above.
As we had arrived at the Salon without making any prior arrangement, we needed to go back at a more convenient time so that we could sit quietly and gain more information about the Salon and the people who run it, so on 5th July we returned and talked with Tasha and Jean who gave us some information about themselves and also Tasha’s daughter Amelia who helps out in the Salon where she can.
Tasha is a qualified Therapist and works full time, Jean is the Salon Manager full time, Jane who deals with hands, feet and eyes (lashes, eyebrows etc) works part time and Amelia (Tasha’s daughter) helps out in the Salon.
Tasha Atik – was born in London of a Turkish Cypriot father and Italian mother, she is a qualified Therapist with over 20 years of experience in this field. The family emigrated to Verona in Italy where they lived for 10 years and during this time Tasha set up her own Beauty Salon which also incorporated a wholesale company.
In 2007 Tasha, her daughter and mother moved to North Cyprus and after working for various salons in the area Tasha could see a gap in the beauty market for a high class salon offering some of the treatments not available anywhere else. Amore has now been open for 6 weeks and is proving to be very successful.
Jean Bradley – is originally from Preston in England and has lived in North Cyprus for 5 years. She has had a very varied lifestyle, from running a bar in Spain and working in Kuwait where she had a very responsible and quite stressful job with a transport company which carried out maintenance and repair of US military service vehicles. Jean is the Salon Manager at Amore and deals with the appointments, clients and ensures the smooth running of the Salon.
I also had a word with Tasha’s 17 year old daughter Amelia who we realised we had previously met at a KADS performance and also a wedding where she sang for the bride and groom. Amelia has a lovely singing voice but although she loves singing this isn’t the career she wants to follow. Amelia’s ambition is to become a tattoo artist and from September she will be attending a Beauty School to start her journey into her chosen career. Tasha told me that Amelia is very artistic but she wants Amelia to learn all aspects of beauty treatment and ultimately when she is about 21 she will be ready to embark on her chosen career as a tattoo artist.
So as well as being a staunch supporter of Tulips – Help Those with Cancer Association, Tasha now offers a unique style of pampering and whatever type of treatment chosen you can be sure of being able to relax in an area of soothing ambience.
