A Big New Year Thank You From Tulips
We have received the following news of great fund raising from Sue Tilt and Carole King of Tulips – Help Those With Cancer Association and would like to share it with our many readers.
“Hi,
We have received a great sum of money from various sources this past week and would like your help in thanking everyone in relation to the following:
Pat Burns – Funeral
There was a huge turnout for Pat’s funeral as Pat had touched so many lives during his short stay on the island. He was
generous with his time, his artwork and had a huge warm heart.
We are all well aware of how talented and creative Pat was and most of us have a piece of Pat in our houses, if not in our hearts, in the shape of a piece of iron work, a painting etc to remember him by.
Our thanks go to Kate (Pat’s wife) and family for asking everyone to donate to Tulips in lieu of flowers. Tulips was one of Pat’s favourite charities due to losing family members to cancer.
Thank you to family and friends who raised a huge 1,486.50TL in memory of Pat.
RIP Pat Burns
New Years Eve Swim 2015
Seven very brave ‘Tulips Chilly Dippers’ took a sponsored chilly dip into the sea on the 31st December which was definitely the coldest day of the winter
to date, at no time was there ever any talk about cancelling especially as the rough waves knocked some of them off their feet!
On Friday 15th January a presentation was made to Tulips from the swimmers (Sue Tong, Duncan Leitch, Un Bitlis, Steve Owen, Jackie Pennington, Shelagh Bolton and Steve Foster) and Jenny Brown who was the provider of the much loved mulled wine at The Fly Inn of a staggering 8,347TL!
Already, they are all planning their next swim at the end of this year.
Tulips would like to thank everyone involved including the huge crowd that turned out to support the swimmers who most definitely needed encouragement on such a cold day.
Barbara Willbye
We have all seen the fantastic pictures of Barbara’s hair when she organised a sponsored hair colouring day, little did
she realise at the time that she would have to sit in the hairdressers chair for a full 7 hours.
The final figure that Barbara raised was an amazing 2,725TL!
Barbara continues to surprise us all so what will she do next?
Thank you Barbara for going that extra mile for Tulips.
With best wishes
Sue and Carole”
