Saturday 10th October 2015- K-Pet League 1- played at Hamitköy Esat Erdoğmuş Stadi.
A 92 minute equalising goal by the Hamitköy Goalkeeper Ahmet Topuz, prevented Esentepe securing their first win of the season. They remain unbeaten on 3 points having drawn all 3 of their matches.
On a very hot afternoon a large and noisy crowd were in attendance and also a sizeable contingent from Esentepe.
Esentepe made 2 changes from their last match, recalling Club Captain Berkan into his usual central position, Nersin moved from the centre to right full back. Mahmut, moved from right back to midfield in place of Umar. Burak was recalled in midfield in place of striker Emrah. Esentepe colours were a natty red and white chessboard with white shorts and socks.
Esentepe were out of the starting blocks quickly, and put early pressure on Hamitköy. After only 3 minutes Kaan whipped in a great cross from the left, where it was met by the “hanging” Başak whose header brought a good diving save at his near post by goalkeeper Ahmet.
However, a minute later the goalkeeper was picking the ball out of the net when he was beaten by a great shot from KAAN who met a low Emek cross from the left, the ball dipping below Hamitköy crossbar and into the net. 0-1`.
Esentepe were controlling the midfield and stringing together some fine moves with Kaan and Emek heavily involved.
In the first half Hamitköy’s only chance came from a dead ball situation. Esentepe’s Captain, Berkan, handled the ball to give away a free kick on the edge of left hand penalty area. Hüseyin Çidamli free kick was palmed over the bar for a corner by Esentepe’s keeper Serkan. H-T 0-1.
In the second half it was Hamitköy who were out of the traps first. Two minutes into the second half, Esentepe’s central defender Salih’s miss headed clearance fell to Hüseyin who sliced his shot wide of the far post.
Hamitköy’s pressure finally brought dividends when they equalised in the 56th minute. Esentepe’s defender Salih allegedly gave away a free kick, centrally right on the edge of the semi circle of the Esentepe goal area. Mehmet Cil took the free kick and bent his shot round the wall and into the right hand of the Esentepe goal, beating the diving Serkan.1-1.
Esentepe made a double substitution after 60 minutes with Eser and Umar replacing İlyas and Basak respectively.
It was still Hamitköy who looked likely to score and in the 70th minute ‘İlkay and Eyüp combined to give a shooting chance to Eyüp only to see his volley crash against the top of the Esentepe crossbar and go over.
On a hot afternoon, the weather was having an effect on the players and midfield was generally being by-passed, which resulted in end to end action. Kaan on Esentepe’s left was having a fine match and in the 73rd minute he sent over a cross which was met first time by substitute Eser whose shot was palmed away by goalkeeper Ahmet, the ball eventually fell to Burak on the edge of the goal area, but the midfielder blasted his shot high over the bar.
Kaan was not to be denied in the 77th minute, when he engineered the move to enable Esentepe to take the lead. Picking up a stray Hamitköy pass on the left, the talented midfielder spotted Eser and Umar runs into the Hamitköy’s half, ESER latching onto Kaan’s pass expertly drew the approaching Ahmet from his goal and slotted the ball into the net. Hamitköy made strong appeals to the officials claiming that Eser was in an offside position after a lot of shouting and pushing on the Hamitköy bench resulted in a number of bookings, the match was held up for at least 5 minutes, but the goal stood.1-2.
Esentepe were packing the midfield in a attempt to thwart Hamitköy’s desperate efforts to equalise as the game went into injury time.
In the 92nd minute, Nersin on the left held back a Hamitköy player to give away a free kick on the left of Esentepe’s goal area. Hamitköy’s keeper Ahmet was summoned up field from his goal. Why is it when a keeper goes up for a set piece the keeper normally is first to the ball? Ahmet who is 6ft 2in tall stooped low to meet the low free kick and send a glancing header past Serkan’s far right hand post, with Esentepe’s defenders rooted to the spot. F-T 2-2.
SUMMING UP ; Devastating to give a goal like this away, every one of Esentepe’s goals they have conceded this season have been from dead ball situations. On Hamitköy last goal no defenders were on the post; if there were, maybe the ball could have been cleared off the line. A draw in the end was probably a fair result, Esentepe shaded the first half, but definitely Hamitköy controlled the second half.
Every Esentepe player cannot be faulted for their efforts, some put in more than others. Mid fielders Burak and Vurkan were full of energy and the defence looked sound except for conceding the two dead ball situations.
KAAN put in a near perfect performance scoring a fine goal and making another, he looked the classiest player on show.
