Cricket in North Cyprus took a huge leap forward this week, when a historic deal was struck with AYSK for their Alsancak Stadium to become the sport’s permanent ground.

Yesterday the 10th October 2015, TRNC Cricket Association pitch manager Tad Haigh delightedly explained, finding grounds for the ever expanding cricket league had become a major headache. Endless changes of venues at short notice had dogged our games since we began 18 months ago and now it’s a huge relief to have a home.

Association Chairman Nigel Holman said, he was particularly excited to be able to play at Alsancak, as it’s a perfect venue, being large with plenty of space beyond the boundary for the big sixes and with its refurbished comfortable stadium, it’s great for our supporters.

Sunday 18^th October, the Creditwest North Cyprus Cricket League resumes with two T20 games at the Alsancak Stadium:

10.00     Eastern Mediterranean University v Istanbul Technical University

13.30      Near East University v Cyprus International University

When we asked Vice Chairman Danish Afridi about this Sunday’s games he told us, the Eastern Mediterranean and Near East teams now have plenty of experience having been amongst the original league’s sides, but newcomers CIU are catching them up and Istanbul Technical University, whose class players won the latest TRNC tennis ball cricket tournament, could be one to particularly watch out for.

Due to the delay in some of the University teams returning from their summer holidays, a revised fixtures list has been announced:
