By Chris Elliott…. The wires are red hot with the news that Turkish Cypriot President Mustafa Akinci had a meeting yesterday with members of the House of Lords including Baroness Meral Ece who commented on social media pages as follows.
TRNC Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed that the bilateral agreements reached between Egypt and South Cyprus within the framework of South Cyprus visit of Egypt President Sisi will in no way be binding on the Turkish Cypriots and will be considered null and void.
“If two equal states can sit at the negotiating table, then we are ready for the negotiation process to begin. No one should dream a solution is possible if the Greek Cypriots are a state and we are a community at that table” said Foreign Minister Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu.
Addressing the Cyprus issue at a symposium earlier in the week, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Serdar Denktaş said, “The whole world should know, that Turkish Cypriots have established their own state by protecting their ownership rights from Greek Cypriot occupation forces.”
