Prime Minister Yorgancıoğlu : “Natural gas in Cyprus belongs to the people of the whole island”

Indicating that natural gas in Cyprus belongs to the people of the whole Özkan Yorgancıoğlu 2island, Prime Minister Yorgancıoğlu said that they do not adopt the attitude of the Greek side in this issue.

Yorgancıoğlu answered questions of AA correspondent related to the natural gas in the Eastern Mediterranean. Reminding that as well as Cyprus natural gas, reserves have been discovered in Israel, Lebanon and Egypt in the Eastern Mediterranean Yorgancıoğlu said that these resources should be transferred to Europe in a secure, sustainable and cheap way via Cyprus and Turkey.

Yorgancıoğlu also said that there are hopes that the natural gas will contribute to resolve the conflict between Turkish and Greek Cypriots. Upon being asked about sharing the natural gas Yorgancıoğlu said that the gas belongs to the people of the whole island.

Turkish Cypriot and Greek Cypriot negotiators Kudret Özersay and Andreas Mavroyannis will meet again today. At the last meeting which took place on 25 June, the negotiators shaped the agenda and discussed the issues of residence and citizenship.

On the other hand the Leaders will meet on 4 and 7 July and the negotiators will meet on 9, 16, 22, 23 July and 26 August.
