Richard Chamberlain

2015 Calendar Launch

“Cyprus Yesterday & Today”

By Margaret Sheard…

We have been liaising closely with Richard Chamberlain with ideas and advice in his venture to issue a nostalgic calendar for 2015 which includes photographs taken by him in 1954 together Richard Chamberlainwith the same shots  taken in 2014, a 60 year span, hence the title of the calendar,  Cyprus – Yesterday & Today.

The result of Richard’s painstaking work is a wonderful calendar for 2015 and the first three months of 2016 depicting old and new images of Cyprus.

There will be an exhibition of some of Richard’s photography, his book Cyprus Scenes and Way of Life in 1954 will be available for sale and of course there will be the launch of the new 2015 Calendar – Cyprus Yesterday & Today, which will take place at the Round Tower in Girne on Wednesday 2nd July from 10am to 6pm.   Richard’s book is 35TL (£10) and the Calendar will be 25TL (£8), which is definitely a keepsake.

I understand that Richard will be interviewed by Can Gazi on BRT Radio at 11am on Tuesday 1st July when he will be telling how the idea came about for the calendar, and Engin Dervisağa will be recording an outside TV broadcast interview at The Round Tower Cameraand the transmission date of this will be advised through Engin’s article on cyprusscene.com. We will be going along to The Round Tower to give support to Richard and hope to see some of our readers there.

This is an ideal opportunity to be able to see some of Richard’s original photographs again and to have the chance of purchasing one of his unique calendars. Richard arranged for me to receive an advance copy of the calendar and I can honestly say it is indeed a work of art.
