Serhat Akpinar : “As a Turkish Cypriot I am honoured, on behalf of my Country, to be awarded with a duty with such significance”
Girne American University (GAU) Founding Rector and Chancellor of the Board – Serhat Akpinar, has been selected as the Ambassador of European Central Board of Education by the International Diplomats Union with the approval of the UN and EU Commission due to his contribution to education and the international arena through Girne American University.
The committee, which consists of Former Ambassador, President of the European Diplomats Union and EU Parliament Member – Günther Meinel, Board Member of Diplomats Association Headquarters – Lukas Lunne, President of the Turkey Diplomats Union – Ferhat Bozçelik, Vice President of Diplomats Association – Serdal Kılavuz, Board Member of Turkey Diplomats Association, EU Chief Supervisor, EU and Cyprus Specialist – Assoc. Prof. Dr. Uğur Özgöker and Board Member of Turkey Diplomats Association – Hakan Saraç, presented the approval of the Board of the International Diplomats Association to Serhat Akpinar during their visit to GAU.
Serhat Akpınar made important statements after he was selected as the Ambassador of European Central Board of Education with the approval of the UN and EU Commission by the International Diplomats Union, which was established with the approval of UN and the EU and has conducted inhibitory activities for fundamental problems such as conflict and crisis for nearly 35 years around the world, including Turkey to old, new and future EU memberships as well as conducting cross-border activities.
“Outstanding services to education awarded as Education Ambassador Degree”
Akpınar, who stated that he was proud to be the first Cypriot to be worthy of an important task such as this on behalf of his country, explained that Board Membership and Education Ambassador Degree was given to a Cypriot for the first time due to his outstanding services for education, alongside the initiatives that integrate the country’s higher education with the world and scientific activities of GAU International Campuses including international global higher education as well as the country’s higher education.
Akpınar, who emphasized that the International Diplomats Association, in cooperation with the UN and the EU, made significant efforts for underdeveloped and developing countries and societies along with crisis management in conflicted areas, underlined that he will work more to unite the education, higher education, social structure and culture of North Cyprus with the world as well as creating solutions for problems in his country and the entire world and he thanked Former Ambassador, President of the European Diplomats Union and EU Parliament Member – Günther Meinel and the committee for the Education Ambassador Degree which will allow him to contribute to the development of North Cyprus.
