Büyükkonuk

Naturland Summer Festival 2014

By Ralph Kratzer

I wrote a post about the Naturland recreation area in the summer of last year. As a reminder – click here!

At this time Naturland was just in the formative stages, but I was already excited by the concept.

So I was pleased to learn that there was a summer festival last Sunday, where motorcycles including their riders had been invited.

P1010848I went out with my bike “Black Betty” on Sunday morning to make my way to the Bikers Club in Girne in order to meet with the members of the Harley Owners Group there. At about 11.15am we set off together in the direction of the Karpaz peninsula and Büyükkonuk.

If some people believe, from bitter experience, motorists in Northern Cyprus were undisciplined and sometimes even dangerous, that wasn´t true for our group of about 20 motorcycles. I’ve joined a number of motorcycle corsos in Germany and Italy, the bikers in Northern Cyprus are similar to those I have seen before in terms of disciplined driving in every way.

Thus, the whole group arrived safely at Naturland in Büyükkonuk.

P1010880The summer festival was well organized, there were not only numerous motorcycle-beauties to be admired, but also beautiful vintage cars, numerous stalls with different offers, food and beverage stations, as well as live music and other attractions.

For the main music event in the evening a huge mobile stage was set up, unfortunately I could not wait so long for time reasons. But I am sure it would have been, like the whole day, a remarkable spectacle.

As mentioned in my article of a few weeks ago, “Bravo North Cyprus” , living here is really worth it! To remember the post – please click here!
