Raising money for TULIPS (Help
Those with Cancer)
By Margaret Sheard
The Esentepe Fun, Run and Ramble is not only an annual event, it also incorporates many other fundraising events as part of this very popular and well attended annual event which was originally started by George Roper, who himself was a cancer sufferer and sadly lost his battle, but the Fun Run has been carried on in his memory and has resulted in much needed funds for Tulips increasing every year from this and the other activities associated with it.
We have received the following update from Committee Member, Sue Steel, of one of these associated events for which the Committee and Tulips are so grateful.

As part of her first summer opening lunch, Hatice Gűrbűz of Hati’s Cafe in Esentepe chose to raise money for Tulips (Help Those With Cancer).
On Sunday, 20th April more than 70 people enjoyed her hot and cold buffet with dessert for TL30, which included a free first drink.
Local businesses stepped up and donated 33 raffle prizes which generated 1,350TL. all of which was handed over to Tulips’ representative, Sue Steel, to be added to the final total of the Esentepe Fun, Run and Ramble 2014.
Mrs Steel commented: “This is an astonishing amount to raise in a raffle and I would like to thank Hati for all her hard work. Also deserving of thanks are Brian and Maggie Delaney and Heather Dilley who helped run the raffle.”

Music was provided by Brian Delaney singing his easy listening repertoire and as usual, Mr Delaney gave his services for free.
Ms Gűrbűz said: “It has been a great day, lots of friends have come to support me and Tulips and we have raised a fantastic amount. I hope to do another lunch on 4th May, which happens to be my birthday too. I would ask anyone wishing to come to book through me on 0533 863 3862.”
