EROĞLU: “WHETHER OR NOT JOINT STATEMENT EXISTS WE WILL FIND EVERYTHING IN FRONT OF US AND DISCUSS AT THE NEGOTIATION TABLE”
Stating that the Cyprus issue could not be solved without sitting at the negotiation table and an agreement would not be possible apart from that, President Dervis Eroglu said: “In fact whether or not the joint statement exists we will find everything in front of us and discuss at the negotiation table.”
Expressing his thoughts: “This issue should be finalized by having a referendum at the end of March” was tried to be ended by playing for time, Eroğlu continued: “It is clear that the Greek Cypriots and the UN will continue this game. To me this is wrong.”
FOREIGN MINISTER NAMİ RECEIVES VICE-PRESIDENT OF CYPRUS TURKISH SCOUT VOLUNTEERS ASSOCIATION
The Minister of Foreign Affairs Özdil Nami received the Vice-President of Cyprus Turkish Scout Volunteers Association Çağan Baysan yesterday. Speaking first during the meeting, Baysan said that they paid a visit to the Foreign Minister within the framework of the ‘30thAnniversary of the TRNC and the 90th Anniversary of Scouting’. Baysan presented a scarf to Nami which was prepared within the context of the meeting. Giving information about the history of Scouting, Baysan said ‘Scouting is one of the most organized youth movements in the world’.
In his speech, Foreign Minister Nami said that there was a well established scouting tradition in the country, and almost all students were interested in scouting.
Moreover, adding that the youth in the world have active participation in scouting, Nami said ‘The Cyprus problem should not be an obstacle for the youth of the country to integrate with the youth of the world’.
Stressing that the first mission of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is to execute the work of lifting the isolations, Foreign Minister Nami thanked Baysan for bringing the issue on the agenda of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Foreign Minister Nami also said that they would give all kinds of support for the work of the Cyprus Turkish Scout Volunteers Association.
CHRISTMAS CELEBRATIONS IN GIRNE
Religious ceremonies and celebrations were conducted in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus on the occasion of Christmas.
One of these celebrations was conducted in St. Andrew Church which is known as the British Church in Girne. The story of the birth of Jesus was narrated in the celebration. Also Bible verses were read and prayers and hymns were performed.
The Archbishop of Maronites – Yosif Anduan Siuef will be in Koruçam today. Siuef will conduct a religious ceremony on the occasion of Christmas.
Many Maronites from South Cyprus are expected to attend the ceremony to be conducted by Archbishop Siuef in Ayyourgio
