EROGLU: “BRT HAS CARRIED OUT THE DUTY OF VOICING THE JUST CAUSE OF TURKISH CYPRIOT PEOPLE AND TURKISH CYPRIOT STATE TO THE WORLD SINCE 20 JULY 1974”

Bayrak Radio Television Corporation is continuing to hold a series of events marking its 50th Anniversary of establishment. A symposium Dervis Eroglu 9entitled “BRT in its 50th year and the future of broadcasting” was organized yesterday within the framework of the events.

Also speaking at the event, President Derviş Eroğlu underlined the importance Bayrak Radio had played in the history of the Turkish Cypriot struggle for existence.

“BRT has carried out the duty of voicing the just cause of the Turkish Cypriot people and the Turkish Cypriot State to tBRT Studioshe world” he added.

Praising the Corporation for its advancements and developments, the President said that it was important for the Corporation’s staff to be happy in order to be productive, highlighting the need to enact BRT’s law in parliament as soon as possible.

Also touching upon the Cyprus Problem, the President complained that the Greek Cypriot side still maintained its intransigent mentality despite the fact that the Cyprus Problem has been continuing for over 50 years.

SIBER: “COMMUNAL RECONCILIATION IS VERY IMPORTANT FOR SOLVING THE CYPRUS PROBLEM”

Speaker Sibel Siber 3of TRNC Assembly – Sibel Siber stated that communal reconciliation is very important for solving the Cyprus problem and said “I hope the negotiations will start as soon as possible and a result which will be for the benefit of both sides will be achieved”.

Sibel Siber made a speech during a reception and pointed out that Turkish Cypriots put forth a reconciliation for a solution and peace at the Annan Plan referendum held 10 years ago and this reconciliation still continues. Siber stated that the benefit to be brought by a solution will be great.

NAMI IS THE GUEST OF ‘WEDNESDAY CONVERSATIONS’

Özdil Nami made a presentation entitled “Latest Stage of Cyprus problem and Maraş”.

Minister Özdil Nami expressed that he was involved in the Cyprus problem from the first day he took over his duty and he held contacts about the Cyprus problem in New York with TRNC President Dr. Derviş Eroğlu. Nami pointed out that the major target at the end of negotiations is a bi-communal federation based on political equality and added that a simultaneous referendum to be conducted at the end of the process is close.

The Minister also touched upon the subject of “Maraş” and stated that if a process is to be followed other than a comprehensive solution, there will be many subjects to be discussed and Maraş is the first of these subjects.

RELIGIOUS LEADERS MEET AT BUFFER ZONE

The President of Religious Affairs – Talip Atalay, Archbishops of the Greek Cypriot Orthodox Church, the Maronite Church, and the Armenian Church met at the buffer zone to evaluate the dialogue process among the leaders in the year of 2013.

The meeting which was held at the buffer zone at ‘Corporation House’ at Ledra Palace and attended by the General Manager of Vakıf Administration – İbrahim Benter and Imam of Hala Sultan Şakir Alemdar was closed to the press.

‘REPUBLIC MEDAL’ TO NEU FOUNDING RECTOR DR. SUAT İ. GÜNSEL

WithinSuat Günsel the framework of the Republican Day celebrations held in the capital of Gagauzia, Komrat yesterday (23rd December), the Founding Rector of the Near East University(NEU) – was given ‘Gagauzia Republic Medal’.

According to the statement of the Near East University, the two medals were given to the first two Presidents of Gagauzia due to the Gagauz citizens who made great contribution for Gagauzia’s establishment and development; and Dr. Günsel was given ‘Republic Medal’, the status of Gagauzia Honorable Citizen for his great contributions for the development of Gagauzia.

THIRD PIPE SINKING PROCESS OF ‘PROJECT OF THE CENTURY’ HAS BEGUN

It has been stated that the process of a third pipe sinWaterking at the coast of sea transport pipe within the framework of the TRNC Water Supply Project which will transfer water from Mersin to the TRNC undersea has begun.

The one kilometer long pipe which is formed by the combination of two 500 meter long pipes and covered with concrete blocks at the facility in Taşucu town, province of Silifke has been brought to the working site and has begun to be mounted at the sea bottom.

FORMER CYTA PRESIDENT KITTIS’S ACCOUNT IN LONDON HAS BEEN FROZEN

It has been stated that the former President of Administrative Board of the Greek Cypriot Telecommunication Office Euros(CYTA) Stathis Kittis’s account amounting to 300 thousand Euros in a bank in London was seized a few days ago. Kittis was arrested within the scope of illegally buying the land which belongs to Turkish Cypriot Mustafa Mehmet Mustafa in ‘Dromolaksia’ (Mormenekşe) village in Larnaca by CYTA’s Retirement Fund and then released.

According to the Greek Cypriot daily ‘Alithia’, upon the request of the Greek Cypriot officials, Kittis’s account in London has been frozen following the decision of the British Court.
