By Chris Elliott…..
As the new face in town, I’ve been searching for a welcoming place to spend time and meet people. By chance, I discovered Baa Baa Bistro at Paston Farm Community Centre in Freston (PE4 7XB).
In January, the last of the trustees stepped down from the centre, but Vicki—who, along with her husband, runs the Peterborough Police Boxing Club—and Tracy, who operates a café at the Dementia Resource Centre three days a week, stepped in. Together, they reopened the café under the name Baa Baa Bistro, creating a cosy and comfortable space for the community.
Baa Baa Bistro is open on Mondays and Thursdays from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, offering a selection of snacks and a hearty breakfast for those who fancy it.
The Dementia Resource Centre is coming.
There are discussions underway for the Dementia Resource Centre to relocate, with conversations happening between the centre, Peterborough City Council, the property owners. If this move happens, some of the buildings at Paston Farm may accommodate the centre, allowing Tracy to open Baa Baa Bistro five days a week. This would bring even more activities to the thriving community hub, which boasts its own enclosed car park and is conveniently located near Paston Health Centre.
The café itself features two inviting seating/dining areas, a separate room suitable for meetings, and, when the sun shines, a courtyard with tables and benches—a perfect spot to relax outdoors.

Beyond the café, the complex offers a fantastic boxing gym and an additional hall with a stage and safety matting—ideal for hosting events, whether for children or adults, with space for floor-based activities. This hall also features a small stage with a back screen, allowing for video screenings, film nights, or presentations.
