Girne Students support Olive Harvesting
The Girne Youth Assembly Initiative, which carries out its work with the support of the Girne Municipality, carried out an interactive study with primary school students about local domestic seeds and olives.
The study, in which approximately 120 students from four primary schools within the borders of the Girne Municipality participated, took place in the ‘Young Garden’ in Ozanköy, which has agricultural land allocated to the Girne Youth Assembly Initiative by the Girne Municipality.
Girne Municipality Deputy Director Akın Ataker and municipality personnel Burcu Veysioğlu and Mehmet İzbul, as well as members of the Girne Youth Assembly Initiative, accompanied the study visit.
In the statement made by the Girne Youth Assembly Initiative, it was noted that the study aimed to inform students about the application of traditional and modern methods in olive harvesting and to remind them of the importance of protecting and evaluating the blessings coming from nature.
Okra, corn, and village pepper seeds were given as gifts to the students who participated in the study and it was noted that the collected olives would be gifted to participating schools.
