ARUCAD’s Prof. Dr. Emrah Öztürk, wins 79th Yunus Nadi Award
ARUCAD Film Design and Management Department Head Assoc. Prof. Dr. Emrah Öztürk, 79th Yunus Nadi Awards in the Story Branch.
Arkın University of Creative Arts and Design (ARUCAD) Film Design and Management Department Head Assoc. Prof. Dr. Emrah Öztürk has achieved great success in the ‘short story’ category at the Yunus Nadi Awards, one of Turkey’s most established and prestigious literary awards. Öztürk was deemed worthy of the 79th Yunus Nadi Awards in the short story category with his work ‘The Man Who Cannot Return Home’.
In the 79th Yunus Nadi Awards organised for the 79th time this year, a total of 248 works in 6 branches were meticulously evaluated by the selection committees. 62 works competed in the short story category, 76 in the novel category, 43 in the poetry category, 24 in the social sciences research category, 33 in the cartoon category and 10 in the photography category. As a result of this wide participation and difficult evaluation process, one work was awarded in each branch.
Prof. Dr. Emrah Öztürk wins an award
ARUCAD academic artist Assoc. Prof. Dr. Emrah Öztürk won the award in the short story category as a result of the evaluation of the selection committee consisting of respected names of the literary world Sadık Aslankara, Sezer Ateş Ayvaz, Seval Şahin, Mehmet Zaman Saçlıoğlu and Özcan Karabulut.
In his latest book of stories titled ‘The Man Who Can’t Return Home’ published by Yapı Kredi Publications, Öztürk draws attention with his original narration and strong character descriptions that go deep into the human soul. The book had previously been among the short list of 10 books selected by the jury of the 70th Sait Faik Story Award, organised in cooperation with the Düraşşafaka Society and Türkiye İş Bankası Kültür Yayınları, from among 117 story books. Academician, writer and director Öztürk has a total of 3 story books published so far.
The Yunus Nadi Awards are organised every year in memory of Yunus Nadi Abalıoğlu, the founder of Cumhuriyet Newspaper, in order to keep alive his contribution to art and literature and continue to support the cultural richness and creative writing tradition of Turkey and the region.
