DBRMS Bring Medals Back to TRNC From Larnaca Tournament

From DBRM’S BJJ team…..
The AJP Tour, which is the biggest Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tournament in the world, held it’s Mediterranean Regional Championship at Kition Athletic Stadium in Larnaca on 5th October 2024.
Kyrenia’s very own DBRM’S BJJ team, under the guidance of Professor Juliano Baraqueti, entered several athletes who were keen to test their skills, advance their knowledge, gain experience and, of course, have fun! The Doberman’s team, which is part of Grand Master Flavio Behring’s International Association, fielded eleven fighters across the infant, junior, teen and adult brackets and earned eleven medals!
Ariana, 10, fought in 3 great matches to earn her place at the center of the podium! Webley, a 12 year old yellow belt, had to jump up a category and fight in the orange belt division, winning his fight and getting gold. Similarly, Metin Adil, who has fought and won several championships in various countries, was not satisfied when he didn’t have a match-up, so he entered himself into the black belt masters division (as a purple belt!).
Many will say that this is in the true spirit of martial arts, as you can never lose, rather, you win or you learn! Metin took a podium spot and earned a bronze medal, as well as gaining invaluable experience. For youngsters Jorge, Deniz, Dilara and Adel, this was their first training camp and they all made excellent progress in their jiu-jitsu during the run-up to the competition.
