A Meaningful Donation from Deniz Yıldızı Association

“We are proud to keep our promise”

The “Deniz Yıldızı Charity Association,” founded to commemorate Deniz Nasıfoğlu, who died at a young age, and to honour her fight against cancer, has donated approximately 325,000 TL worth of supplies to the Oncology Hospital from the events organized in collaboration with the Municipality of Girne.

The Association members, who have previously held many events and made donations to various places, have donated to the Oncology Hospital the money collected from the first-ever “Play for Hope” event, held under the name “Deniz Yıldızı Charity Association,” .

According to a statement from the Association, the donation to the Oncology Hospital includes 2 single-channel infusion pumps, 2 dual-channel infusion pumps, 10 mini coolers, 5 companion chairs, 1 water purification system, and various toys.

The Statement Of The Association

“To date, we have shared the audited accounts of the income from all our events, as well as the expenses incurred for the events, with the public. This is how we have established trust with our donors, participants, and sponsors. This is our responsibility to our dear friend Deniz, to each other, to all our stakeholders, and to the public. Transparency, accountability, and building trust are essential for the sustainability of all civil society organizations such as associations, unions, and teams working for society.

We send our heartfelt thanks to all our stakeholders who have supported us with their donations, help, and efforts. On this occasion, we extend our deepest gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and all healthcare workers who work tirelessly with extraordinary dedication despite limited resources, and we wish a speedy recovery to all patients.

A social state is one that makes the necessary interventions to ensure social justice in society. It is expected that states adopting this understanding will allocate their resources fairly to all sectors. It is their duty to prevent inequalities in many areas, primarily in health, education, housing, social security, fair income distribution, and animal welfare.

The Deniz Yıldızı charity will continue its donations with the strength and trust it receives from its stakeholders. However, our association does not have the capacity or power to take on the duties of the state. That being the case, we call on our state to embrace the concept of a social state and urgently allocate resources and make investments, especially to address the well-known deficiencies in healthcare.
