Green Light For Girne Multi-storey Carpark
The tender for the ‘Lease of Multi-Story Parking Garage through a Build-Operate-Transfer Model’ conducted by the Girne Municipality has concluded. The tender, announced by Girne Municipality on June 7, was won by Paramaribo Tourism Ltd. (Pasha Group). The results of the tender were officially confirmed during a signing ceremony held on August 14, Wednesday, at 3:00 PM in the Girne Municipality Council Meeting Hall. During the ceremony, Girne Municipality President Murat Şenkul and Pasha Group CEO Uğur Pirinççioğlu signed the contract.
During the meeting, it was announced that the parking project, which is leased for 25 years, will serve 230 cars. The parking facility is expected to be completed within approximately one year and aims to address the serious parking issue in the area. It was noted that the parking will operate within working hours (08:00 – 17:00) based on Girne Municipality Parking tariffs, and outside of these hours, the fee determined by the winning company (up to 10 times the Girne Municipality Parking tariff) will be charged.
Şenkul: “Cooperation Based on Trust and for Public Benefit“
Girne Mayor Murat Şenkul thanked all participating companies in the multi-story parking tender process, marking a first for Girne, and emphasized the serious need for such public-private partnerships in the country. Şenkul stated that Paramaribo Tourism Ltd. has deposited all required deposits and rent payments as of today, highlighting that Girne Municipality has gained a new source of income, and Girne has made progress in addressing its parking problem.
Şenkul also mentioned that this is the first project and that a similar second project will soon be initiated in the Kervansaray area. He emphasized that Girne Municipality has created a positive perception among investors and that this perception, based on transparency and principles, facilitates the emergence of trust-based and public-benefit collaborations.
Pirinççioğlu: “We Hope to Open to the Public As Soon As Possible”
Pasha Group CEO Uğur Pirinççioğlu began his remarks by recalling their similar project in Nicosia and stressed the necessity of multi-story parking facilities in 24-hour cities like Girne. Pirinççioğlu thanked Şenkul for facilitating the realization of the project and emphasized their goal to complete the project as soon as possible and open it to the public.
