TRNC Prime Minister opened the new Alsancak Roundabout

Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, together with Minister of Public Works and Transport Erhan Arıklı, examined the new roundabout arrangement at the entrance of Alsancak within the scope of the third stage works of the Kyrenia-Alsancak main road. 

“WE SAID ‘WE WILL FINISH’, WE CAME ALL THE WAY TO ALSANCAK”

He said, “We see how much traffic has eased with the road we have built.  “Prime Minister Ünal Üstel and Minister of Public Works and Transport Erhan Arıklı were accompanied by Traffic Department Director Ahmet Aydın during their inspections in the region. Hüseyin Tüfekçi, director of the company that undertook the tender, was also present during the review.

In his statement after the inspections, Prime Minister Üstel stated that they have been working to ease the Alsancak-Karşıyaka-Çamlıbel-Güzelyurt road since 2023, and now they have reached the roundabout at the entrance of Alsancak today with the project made by the Ministry of Public Works and Transport.

Alsancak Roundabout and Junction is Open

Prime Minister Ünal Üstel stated that some expropriations had to be made in order for this roundabout to exist and that these were resolved by the Ministry, and said, “Today April 2nd 2024, the first attempt of the arrangement (of the roundabout at the entrance of Alsancak) is being made.” he said.

Roadwork improvements to continue to Lapta

Reminding that the Kyrenia-Alsancak main road has been on the agenda since 2012, the Prime Minister said, “Our government said that we will finish this road and today we came to Alsancak. We resolved the disputed roundabout in Alsancak. “From now on, we will go to Lapta Hotels Zone, that is, to the exit of Lapta,” he said.  Prime Minister Üstel said, “We see how much traffic has eased with this road we have built,” and added that as part of the works, lighting, sidewalks, walking paths and stopping places for minibuses were also made, in addition to the roads.

Prime Minister Üstel stated that these works, currently carried out at the Alsancak junction, will be carried out to the Lapta junction, and that they hope to provide the region with a road that people can use more safely and comfortably.  Prime Minister Üstel expressed his gratitude to the Minister of Public Works and Transport, the authorities and the relevant company for their efforts in this direction, and wished that the work would be beneficial to the region and the country.
