ARUCAD 27th March World Theatre Day Events

As part of the 27th March World Theatre Day celebration, the Music and Performing Arts Faculty of Arkin University of Creative Arts and Design (ARUCAD) held their Theatre Day events. The events covered the days of April 2-3-4 and started with a performance by ARUCAD Acting Department students held in the university’s courtyard. Following the performance, students organized a march within the school premises and distributed flyers.

After the performance and march by the ARUCAD Acting Department students, the Dean of the Faculty of Music and Performing Arts, Prof. Dr. Kerem Karaboğa, and Acting Department Chair Dr. Güneş Kozal read the statement written by Nobel Prize-winning author Jon Fosse for the 2024 World Theatre Day. Quotes from Jon Fosse’s statement included, “Art, good art, magnificently succeeds in uniting the particular with the universal. It allows us to understand the different as universal. Art surpasses boundaries between languages, geographical regions, and countries by achieving this.” Following the reading of the statement, the ARUCAD Theatre Days continued with the famous French playwright Moliere’s play “The Miser” on the evening of April 2nd, Tuesday, at the Art Gallery.

On April 3rd, Wednesday, there was a workshop by Dr. Marjan Naderzadeh titled “Emotion in Motion: Mastering the Art of Expression in Theatre”. A conversation was held with Kıymet Karabiber, an artist from the Nicosia Municipal Theatre, about the Acting Profession in Cyprus.

On April 4th, Wednesday, the ARUCAD Faculty of Music and Performing Arts Acting Department performed the play “The Marriage Proposal” by the renowned Russian writer Anton Chekhov in the University Conference Hall at 18:30. This concluded the Event Days.
