The Head of the TRNC’s PACE delegation, National Unity Party MP Oğuzhan Hasipoğlu posed a question to the Greek Cypriot Leader Nikos Christodoulides at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) General Assembly.
Hasipoğlu stated that the newly elected President of the PACE, Greek MP Theodoros Rousopoulo who chaired the session, gave him only 30 seconds of time limit and added “In fact, another unfair situation here was that our elected President should have been given the right to speak since Christodoulides made a speech, It is not for this reason that in our new proposal to the UN, we are also demanding out international equal status.”
The delegation also had a meeting with PACE’s Maraş and Cyprus Reporter.
According to the information released by the TRNC Assembly, members of the PACE delegation, National Unity Party MP Oğuzhan Hasipoğlu, and Republican Turkish Party MP Armağan Candan have met with Italy’s Member of Parliament, Maraş and Cyprus Reporter Piero Fassino and completed their Strasbourg contacts. Fassino is expected to hold contacts in Türkiye, Cyprus, and Brussels regarding the report.
The delegation made speeches about the Cyprus issue and the report regarding Israel-Palestine-Gazza and shared their opinions about the report regarding Maraş/Cyprus in the Political Affairs Committee.
The delegation attended the political group meetings within PACE. National Unity Party MP Oğuzhan Hasipoğlu attended the European Conservatives Group and Democratic Alliance meetings, whereas Republican Turkish Party MP Armağan Candan attended the Socialists, Democrats, and Greens Group’s meetings.
The delegation also attended the working dinner organized by Türkiye’s Permanent Representative to the Council of Europe, Ambassador Nurdan Bayraktar Golder.
The delegation had the opportunity to meet Turkish Judge Saadet Yüksel at the ECHR and evaluate the current situation regarding the Immovable Property Commission and property cases at the ECHR.
