The Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences of Near East University (NEU) participated in the “Blue Bottle Cap” campaign initiated by Cyprus Turkish Association for Orthopedically Handicapped People.
The ongoing campaign aims not just to improve knowledge of the general public about the problems that handicapped people face in daily lives, but also aims to raise funds for wheelchairs.
The members of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences paid a courtesy visit to Günay Kibrit, the Chairman of the Cyprus Turkish Association for Orthopedically Handicapped People, and delivered the blue caps that had been collected by students, academic and administrative staff of the faculty.
Welcoming the delegation in his office, the Chairman of the Association for Orthopedically Handicapped People, Günay Kibrit underlined the key role of the charity events and grants to enable them to sustain their services and provide opportunities for those in need. He noted “All charity events, which are carried out voluntarily, as well as the grants have a significant role in assisting us to maintain the existence of the association. I would like to take this opportunity and extend my cordial appreciation to the faculty members, administrative staff and students of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences of Near East University for the importance that they attached on such social responsibility projects.
We have added 12-13 wheelchairs with the money obtained from the blue caps collected every year. However, the “Blue Cap” campaign is a very important event in terms of providing spiritual contribution to raising awareness rather than providing financial contribution. The interest in the campaign has been increasing year by year and this makes us happy. Each contribution is of importance for us regardless of its size. On behalf of my members, I cordially thank everyone who contributed” .
