A TFR Trip to stunning Cappadocia

Readers mail from Ralph Kratzer….
The Foreign Residents in the TRNC (TFR)….

Our Events Manager Pamela Tschersich wrote the following report about the recent TFR-trip to stunning Cappadocia in Central Anatolia:

“Leaving Ercan at daybreak on Tuesday 8th October, 38 members enjoyed a short trip to Cappadocia. Our guide Oktay met us at Keyseri airport along with Mustafa, our very competent coach driver…

Between them they showed us the highlights of Cappadocia…. not every member could venture into the famous Kaymakli Underground City as bending low is required in several parts …everyone was amazed that people actually lived in these caves hiding from their enemies….they were obviously a lot shorter than people of today !!!

We visited the famous pottery and Galip enjoying a demonstration of their craft. We went on to visit a manufacturer of beautiful handcrafted rugs and carpets demonstrating the Turkish system of carpet making…showing us the difference in knots which helped you understand why some carpets are so much more expensive when looking the same…some members joined the coach happy but poorer for the visit!!

Going up in the balloon or just taking part on the balloon chase was the highlight for most members…a unique experience.

We arrived back at Ercan on Saturday 12th October,  all having enjoyed their mini-break…good weather and as usual a fun crowd.”
