Dr Vamik Volkan is one of the world’s leading psychiatrists and psychoanalysts in the field of political psychology. He is the first donor to the Girne City Museum. Turkish Cypriot Vamık Volkan donated the original photo of the high school graduation from 1950 to the museum, the original theatre text he wrote at that time, and a set of magazines published during the same period. The works donated to the city museum were presented to Girne Mayor Nidai Güngördü.
Girne Mayor Nidai Güngördü said that he was happy and proud that the museum will have works from Vamık Volkan, one of the world’s leading professors in the field of political psychology. He thanked Vamik Volkan for the donation to Girne City Museum, which is under construction by Girne Municipality.
Dr.Vamık Volkan said that he is happy that his memories will be on display in a museum. He drew attention to the importance of having a city museum, and thanked Mayor Güngördü, the council members and those who have contributed.
