We were disappointed that we were unable to make it to the previous concert of Katie Economidou at Hati’s Cafe, and pleased that Sunset Concert No. 2 was held on the 17th August and this time we were able to attend.
When we arrived, Katie, accompanied by Zara Barkhoudarian on piano, had just started the performance and we enjoyed the first half of the concert with songs by Katie singing solo and also as a duet with Zara. Katie mingled amongst the audience while singing which was so nice.
There was in the region of 38 people who had booked to enjoy the concert in the small garden at Hati’s Cafe, so it was full to overflowing and Hati’s helpers, one of which was her sister, were never still as they looked after the guests’ drinks orders.
While all this was going on Hati was busy in the kitchen preparing a superb hot and cold buffet, single handed. For that many people, I cannot imagine how she does it, but the result, when we had an interval to help ourselves from the buffet, was a wonderful array of freshly prepared food. To add to this, as we were all tucking in to our plates of food, a chicken kleftiko also arrived for each person. We decided to miss out on the dessert which also arrived a little later.
Katie and Zara then proceeded to entertain us, again with Katie wandering around the tables and singing to the guests.
It was a lovely concert which I am sure was enjoyed by everyone there. We stayed a little longer after most of the guests had left and enjoyed a coffee and a chat with Katie and Zara, who also had a long journey home.
Well done Hati, you again provided a wonderful evening of classical and popular music and a lovely buffet meal.
