Many readers of CyprusScene send requests for information to Trevor and Mary Hughes and in response to a recent question about selling a car in the TRNC this is their reply.
Information required re Trevor’s Tips from Alan and Beatrice Rutherford
Hi Trevor, Can you please advise what the process is to sell a car in North Cyprus?
******
SELLING A VEHICLE IN THE TRNC
If you sell the vehicle to a dealership, no problem as they do all the necessary paperwork.
If you sell the vehicle privately you have to do the following.
- You need a TR 2 form – we have them here at Capital Bank in Alsancak 9.00 – 3.00pm Monday to Frıday. We can help you fill it in if needed as the form is in Turkish.
- All the car related documents.
- Copy of sellers passport.
- Copy of the buyers passport or kımlık, plus the originals.
- You then take the TR 2 form to the sellers local Muhtar for him to sign the bottom of the form. (you only have 7 days from the date the Muhtar signs the form to transfer the Koçan (logbook) into the new owners name).
