The Kyrenia Chamber Choir thanks the wonderful audiences who were at our three “Summer Serenade” concerts: at St. Andrew’s Church in Girne (Kyrenia), at Karmi Church and – last but not least – at the beautiful Antiphonitis Church in Esentepe.  The atmosphere simply vibrated with energy, and great pleasure was had by all.

The concert kicked off with a 16th century wine song (“All red wine makes my head turn, so let’s finish the flask!), moved on to love songs from baroque to Lehàr, and from sacred –  “Panis Angelicus” –  to the somewhat profane and jazzy “Rhythm of Life” and ended with a  spirituals medley to the loud appreciation of the audience. The two pianists, Rauf Kasimov and Deniz Sever added richness to the whole.

The soloists, duos and trio were all from the choir apart from Katie Economidou (who sang with the choir last season and will rejoin us for our Christmas concert) – sang their hearts out  and delighted the audience with their variety.

Some reviews from our audience:

Heartfelt congratulations on the choir’s performance last Thursday evening! Their passion and commitment were simply exquisite! …The choir …delivered yet another memorable concert. I am grateful to you and to all the wonderful singers.”

“ Big congratulations on devising such a splendid and delightful programme of songs and pieces for the Concert. A massive undertaking executed in a happy and, in the finale, exuberant expression! Well done to you and all the Choir.

“ We thoroughly enjoyed it all but I rather think my favourite piece was “Ease”: without a doubt, the choir’s training and joy shone out most in that piece. I could have sat to hear that at least three times! ‘Rhythm of life’ was also a triumph.  Thanks to you especially, also to choir, soloists and pianists who gave such pleasure in a Summer Serenade.”

Below is a video of Katie Economidou singing with the choir at Antiphonitis Church, Esentepe.
