By Peri Sualp…..

Hello everyone, I’m back like every weekend as usual.  Today’s article is about the problem of body odour. Do you have a friend who has body odour? Or even  worst do you? Well then say no more I’m here for you… Everyone wonders why people smell bad. The truth is everyone has a smell, but certain people unfortunately smell terrible. So why is this?

You have body odour because of …

  1. Sweat
  2. Hormones
  3. Spicy food
  4. Hot weather
  5. What you inherit from your family

These are just a few of the main reasons.

You need to sweat.. When your body starts to heat up, whether because of exercise, work or outside temperature, your brain reacts by sending messages to your body to sweat in order to lower your body temperature. Hormones are natural and cannot be controlled, so it is ok to have body odour during adolescence or during special times. Although spicy food is good for you, don’t eat too much or else your body will react. Spicy food always makes people smell because it has a different and powerful scent that causes a bad smell when it  mixes with your sweat.

Living in Cyprus we all know that hot weather always makes us sweat. Fresh sweat is natural and doesn’t always smell bad.

Family genes pass on many things, one is body odour.

However don’t worry there are ways you can smell good most of the time.

Here are a few tips,

  1. Keep your underarms clean and dry. …
  2. Apply an antiperspirant occasionally during the day …
  3. Try a solution of hydrogen peroxide and water to fight body odour. …
  4. If sweat from working out is your No. 1 cause of body odour, wash your workout clothes often. …
  5. Change your diet.
  6. Wear clean underwear each day after you have washed.

Now you know how to avoid bad body smells and why some people smell very bad.

What about the people who always smell bad and are not doing anything about it or even worse they are not even aware of it.

My mother always warns people who smell in a gentle and honest way without hurting their feelings. I once asked, “why do you say such things?” she explained that it was the only way they would learn. Once they learn they will be much more careful about body odour.

In my school there are many young people going through puberty and that’s why they SMELL BAD. There is one specific person among my friends with this problem that you cannot come close to for less than a hundred meters (Obviously I’m not going to give names.). This person really smells awful. I haven’t talked to this person yet but I will. Without hurting his/her feelings of course. I think this person is the best choice to start telling people that they have a body odour situation.

Maybe something like…

“I don’t want you to take this the wrong way but do you realise that I can smell your sweat?” Or something like that.

No one should have to suffer because some people around smell bad!

Thank you for reading another of my articles.

See you next week.
