We are Doomed, All Doomed!

By Richard Beale ….

As Private Frazer from Dads Army would say, Esentepe lost this vital and crucial match and go into the winters break firmly anchored to the bottom of the table.

Saturday December 28 : K-Pet Super League : Esentepe Erdal Barut Stadium.

Yes it’s all doom and gloom, there is no disguising it or getting away from it.  Esentepe chances of remaining in the Super League are as good as my team Bristol Rovers winning the FA Cup!

Esentepe are only 4 points away from a relegation “play off” place and with 45 points still available what’s the problem?

The problem or problems are Esentepe have no Coach, a very limited squad and no money to buy two strikers that are urgently required. Over the winters break the Football President and Committee have some serious thinking to what’s to be done.

Esentepe have had a wretched December playing against some say the “lesser” teams, they have failed miserably and when the season recommences at the end of January they have to face virtually all the teams in the top 6 of the table.

Esentepe were not at their best for most of the match they only looked liked they could save the match in the last 10 minutes, when “caretaker” Coach Gökhan Kim made two tactical substitutions and at last the team looked to be better balanced.

Ex-Esentepe Striker and “Man of the Match” TACETTİN KÖSE in action for L. Gençler Birliği.

10 mins : Hürkan Görnelli Esentepe teenage striker was making a rare start, but he fell awkwardly on his knee, was in great pain and unfortunately was carried off on a stretcher to be replaced by the experienced Mehmet Çil.

19 mins : Esentepe took the lead against the run of play, when Yakup on the left found Kaan who did well to pass to right back MAHMUT IZOĞLU who met it with his left foot to send it past goalkeeper Ali Aydemir. Mahmut and all of the team ran to the injured Hürkan sitting injured on the bench to share the congratulations. 1-0.

30 mins : Sane fastening on a pass from Kaan made progress towards the LGB area letting fly but the shot went wide.

37 mins : Yakup breaking up a LGB attack found Mehmet Çil on the right, the substitute’s shot was saved by the diving Ali Aydemir.

40 mins : Ex Esentepe striker Tacettin Köse playing on the left, brought Esentepe goalkeeper Ali into action scrambling across his line to save.

42 mins: A brilliant free kick from outside the box by Mehmet Çil had goalkeeper Ali Aydin in trouble, the ball hit the bar and went over the goalkeeper colliding with the post and he needed lengthy treatment.

45 mins: LGB equalised just on the interval, when a long through ball from Hasan Sanoğlu found IBRAHIM KÖSE (brother of Tacettin) with Esentepe appealing for offside LGB leading goalscorer lobbed the ball over Ali who might have been to eager to leave his goal. 1-1

54 mins : LGB took the lead when following a foul by Şahin on Tacettin, the striker picked himself up and took the free kick which like Mehmet Cil’s effort hit the bar then rebounded to IBRAHIM KÖSE following up headed the ball over the line. 1-2

65 mins : Kaan corner went to the far post Sane returned the ball into the area where Mehmet Çil got in a header that hit his fellow player Moise standing on the line and the ball was then hacked away.

68 mins : Moise gave away a free kick just outside the Esentepe area, TACETTIN KÖSE again took the kick, the ball took a deflection off the wall, wrong footing Ali before the ball looped into the net. To be fair to Tacettin he did not celebrate his goal scored against his old Club. 1-3

81 mins : Esentepe were given a glimmer of hope when Yakup crossed from the right was headed in by TIDIANE SANE, 2-3

83 mins : Esentepe at last were showing signs of urgency from a Kaan corner substitute Mustafa Kiliç got up well but headed over.

88 mins : Esentepe got the ball into the net through Odi, but the goal was ruled out for offside. Esentepe players complained to the linesman and “Caretaker” Assistant Coach Berkan protested too much and was banished to outside the Stadium. In fairness Esentepe have had some baffling and controversial decisions given by the officials but Odi was clearly offside. FULL TIME SCORE : 2-3.
