Uluçay: “TRNC will do its utmost with Turkey to overcome sports embargo”

Speaker of the TRNC Assembly Teberrüken Uluçay received the Turkish Youth and Sports Minister of the Turkish Republic Mehmet Muharrem Kasapoğlu and his accompanying delegation who have been in the TRNC to attend the Sports Council. Uluçay expressed that the TRNC will do its utmost, together with Turkey, to overcome the sports embargo imposed on the TRNC.

In his speech during the meeting, stressing that due to the sports embargo, the TRNC is not able to attend international competitions, Uluçay said that this situation is a great problem for the country’s youth, and the TRNC will do its utmost to overcome the difficulties.

Furthermore, the Turkish Youth and Sports Minister Kasapoğlu pointed out the importance of cooperation between the two countries. “We will continue our efforts to overcome the sports embargo imposed against TRNC sportsmen and women within the international arena” Kasapoğlu said.

Lute to visit Cyprus on 16th December

The UN Secretary-General’s envoy Jane Holl Lute is to visit Cyprus on Sunday 16th December.

It is expected that Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus President Mustafa Akıncı will host Lute on Monday (17th December) and Lute, who had a meeting with the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini, at the beginning of December, will visit the guarantor countries following her visit to Cyprus.
