The First International Flight from Istanbul Airport was made to the TRNC

The first scheduled international flight from the newly opened Istanbul Airport was made to the TRNC.

Turkish Airlines, flight number TK978, took off from Istanbul Airport on 31st October at 5.30pm local time in Turkey and arrived at Ercan Airport at 6.00pm local time.

Minister of Public Works and Transportation Tolga Atakan, who observed the arrival of the first plane from Istanbul Airport, said this was a “historic and a proud moment”.
