Sunday 28th October was the day arranged by Cansev Aritaş of Semir’s Fırın & Kebab House, Ozankoy, with cooperation from Tim’s Cafe/Bar, to hold the first car boot sale at the Selvi Strip, on the main road in Ozankoy, to raise funds for Hope 4 Pets.
It was a nice sunny day and when we arrived there were 6 cars which had come along to sell items from their boots for this very worthy charity, a little disappointing that there were not more cars but a good start for this very first car boot sale at the Selvi Strip and hopefully there will be more for the next one. There are plenty of amenities 
in the area so it is an ideal place for this type of event. Cansev said she was thinking about a weekly or fortnightly car boot sale but on reflection perhaps a monthly event may be more realistic.
At the end of the boot sale, which was from 12 noon to 4pm, an amount of 1,360TL was raised for Hope 4 Pets, which also included some donations from people passing by. Cansev made a donation from Semir’s Fırın
& Kebab House and also gave a bottle of wine for the raffle, which was won by Dolly who was here on holiday. Thank you Cansev for your generosity and for coming up with the idea for this event.
During the afternoon we were treated to some music from local vocalist Sadie who sang many of the old favourites which added a nice touch to the atmosphere of the event.
Thank you everyone who came along to the car boot sale, both sellers and buyers, Hope 4 Pets are so pleased with the amount raised at the event and it is hoped that this will become a regular feature at the Selvi Strip. As soon as the next car boot sale is arranged we will be sure to let our readers know the date well in advance.
Hope 4 Pets desperately need regular funding to enable them to continue their work for the street animals of North Cyprus so anything which can be organised to achieve this will be very welcome.
There will be a music/entertainment quiz at the Red Ribbon Restaurant in Karakum on Thursday 8th November at 7pm, so why not go along to support Hope 4 Pets and have a nice fun-filled evening. 60TL includes a buffet supper and quizmaster Mick will be in charge of the questions and is sure to keep everyone in order. Also on Tuesday 30th October at Bar 33 (at the Old Mill, Ozankoy) there will be a Hope 4 Pets Coffee Halloween Artwork event from 11am to 2pm. Halloween theme with some beautiful artwork for sale along with merchandise and some select clothing. Just 15TL entrance which includes a homemade Cup Cake and Tea with all profits going towards the animals in need in the TRNC.
Another nice event to attend and give support to Hope 4 Pets.
