North Cyprus football with 6 goal explosive thriller in Lefke

For this live TV match played last Friday (12th October), this match had everything – 6 goals, a penalty a sending off, 8 yellow cards and an own goal in the 7th minute of injury time!

This was a great advert for local TRNC football, the whole match was explosive from start to finish.

Alsancak got off to a lightning start scoring in the first minute with HAFIZ KONKONI scoring with a low angled drive. 0-1

3 mins: Merit Alsancak stunned the home team with another goal from the Ex Dunfermline and St Mirren striker BILLY MEHMET who scored with a shot just outside the box. 0-2.

It was raining goals as both sides’ defences must still be left in the changing rooms as Lefke pulled a goal back in the 8th minute with Candy pass splitting the Alsancak defence and KASIM running on to lob the ball past Ozerlap 1-2

The all action start continued when after 20 minutes Lefke were awarded a penalty when Kasim was brought down, but Alsancak’s TRNC International goalkeeper Hasan Piro easily saved Kasim”s poorly taken penalty.

You could hardly draw breath as there was incident after incident when Alsancak defender Vakkas already booked was sent off for a further foul in the 38th minute. HALF TIME SCORE : 1-2.

Lefke equalised in the 65th minute through MUSTAFA TAHSİLDAROĞULLARI (must be the longest surname in football) scored with a low drive after being set up by Kasim. 2-2

It looked like Alsancak would go home home with all 3 points when they regained the lead in the 83rd minute through a controversial goal scored by MUSTAFA SALK . A Lefke defender sliced his clearance against his own crossbar and the rebound was headed in by Mustafa. Lefke claimed offside and protested strongly to the officials. After consulting his linesman the referee stood by his decision to award a goal despite further protests from Lefke. 2-3

Lefke bravely piled forward with nothing to lose in the final minute of the 7 minutes of added on time Alsancak defender KEMAL YILDIRIM under pressure from Kaan back headed a cross past his own goalkeeper.

What a game you will not see a better match anywhere all season.
