By Richard Beale ……

On Tuesday night at the MOON STAR Restaurant and Bar, Tatlisu, UK British blues award winner Bex Marshall entertained her audience with a wide variety of songs from blues, rock, soul and ragtime.

With her unique style of guitar playing, combined with her distinctive and powerful voice she showed her audience why she is an International critically acclaimed musician.

In her first “set” she started with a Dusty Springfield classic “Son of a Preacher Man” followed by well known songs such as “ Pinball Wizard, Whisky in the Jar, At Last and Summertime, also including a few of her own self penned songs including the very beautiful “Barry’s Song” from her first album “House of Mercy”.

After a break again the second “set” saw a wide variety of songs given the Bex treatment including Fleetwood Mac’s “Looking out for Love”, together with classics such as Lay Down Sally, Johnnie Be Good, and an amazing version played on her Fender guitar of “Duelling Banjo’s”. Janis Joplin’s “Piece of my heart” was given the full treatment showing what a powerful voice she has. The set finished with her own classic, “House of Mercy” to end what was a superb entertaining evening.

Bex’s parents live here in the TRNC and she has been performing at some local venues before she sets off on tour to Brazil and Australia.

I understand she is back in the TRNC shortly before Christmas and will be performing at ROOTS BAR on December 19th. We are very fortunate to have such a talented musician visit us in the TRNC so don’t miss that opportunity of seeing her in concert.

Thank you to Mehmet at MOON STAR for arranging the concert and to his staff for their attentive service for what turned out to be a very enjoyable evening.

As a special treat for our CyprusScene.com readers we have included a video with Bex Marshall singing “The House of Mercy”
