I attended a celebration of World Arts Day with my husband Mehmet at the TRNC Presidential Palace on Sunday 15th April, which was a lovely night replete with delicious meze and drinks and entertainment by the Presidential Symphony Orchestra and surprise guest Zülfü Livaneli, singer, poet, author and politician who was asked to say a few words by President Akinci.
Zülfü Livaneli spoke about freedom and Cyprus and the air was sweet and the symphony orchestra even sweeter as they have turned into a group that even breathes together under Mustafa Kofali and Maestro Ali Hoca.
We met musicians and artists from the South and made new friends and even ran into our superbly talented cousin Fugen Erkoru who just completed a magnificent display of her handmade artwork at the Ceramic Art Exhibition at the Ismet Güney Art Centre.
