On 15th February 2018, the winners of the 2017 TRNC RAPA Drift Championship and 2017 TRNC Carting were awarded with prizes in a ceremony held at Bedestan in Lefkoşa near the Selimiye Mosque.
The prize giving ceremony was attended by the TRNC Prime Minister, Tufan Erhurman, who was the chief guest, and was also well attended by the Presidents of various motor sports clubs and sports lovers and the Lefkosa Municipality Music Orchestra added greatly to the occasion.
Based on the 5 competition races for the RAPA Drift Championship, the first prize went to Celal Bozbeli. The second prize went to Enver Haskasap, and Akay Akbil collected the third prize. In the general category, prizes were awarded to the first six winners in the group of over 35 masters and young competitors under 25 years of age. Prizes were also given to female competitors.
In the Carting section, where the championship was comprised of 5 competition races, the prizes were grouped in Mini, Junior, Senior, Masters and Shifters. In the Mini group Altay Akan, Demir Emre in the Juniors, Tolga Güryel in the Seniors, Umut Araz in the Masters, and Coskun Gurel in the Shift group were awarded cups.
The Prime Minister congratulated the winners and expressed his satisfaction over the efforts being made for bringing a good name to the country, through sports activities.
