For a number of years now I have been going to monthly luncheons with a group of gentlemen (or vagabonds!) which is loosely referred to as the Kleftico Klub which was founded by John Wyn Roberts around 7 years ago.
This luncheon group has met at a number of great restaurants around Girne including Al Shaheen, Karakum over the years and apart from the good conversations and food for the diners, they were also entertained by many fine speakers including the late Founding President, Rauf Denktaş.
At our recent luncheon at Carpenters Restaurant in Karaoĝlanoĝlu, we were entertained with a fascinating talk by Natalie Haigh and Maor Friedman from the Gillham Vineyard Hotel telling us not only about the redevelopment of the Boutique Hotel but also the establishment of the Etel wine producing facility which takes the grapes from the vineyards that have been planted on land surrounding the complex, some of which was used as vineyards around 400 years ago.
