Football Round-up

By Richard Beale……..

Result: Tatlisu Seracilar SK 1 Yeni Erenköy-Yesilköy-Sipahi SK 2.

Saturday May 27th : BTM LEAGUE GROUP 1 : Tatlisu Rauf Denktas Stadium.

Maybe it was the burger and chips that they had at NE+SE Cafe before the match started, but Tatlisu were caught cold in the opening 10 minutes in which they conceded 2 goals in that time. This was the first time Tatlısu defence had been breached this season and it was also their first defeat of the season.

To make matters worse rivals Karadeniz won 6-2 away and now lead the table from Tatlısu 2 points in front of them. Also Kumyalı won yesterday and are in joint second place with Tatlisu on 13 points. Sunday’s clash between Karadeniz and Tatlısu on 11th June takes on significant importance as no team can afford to lose the match..

Tatlisu under pressure from  YES

Yeni Erenköy-Yesilköy-Sipahi (YES I will call them!) stunned Tatıisu when they took an early lead in the 4th minute. Tatlısu keeper Hasan gave away a needless corner, and was punished for it when Tugay met Mehmet’s kick at the near post to slot it past Hasan.0-1.

Tatlısu nightmare start to the game continued when following a goal kick, the ball was flicked on to Soner who ran on and held off a challenge and coolly finished with a low shot past Hasan 0-2, this after only 10 minutes.

YES who were playing in the Barcelona’s colours were certainly playing like the Spanish giants and Tatlısu were looking very lethargic and leaden footed.

They immediately made an early substitution when leading goal scorer Ibrahim Çelik, who was rested for this match came on to replace defender Özal in the 30th minute.

Ibrahim certainly livened things up, as Tatlisu tried to up their tempo. Defender Barış had a header plucked out of the air by the YES goalkeeper Hüseyin in the 38th minute. Tatlisu’s best chance came just before the break when Soner shot wide, when he should have at least brought the keeper in action. Half Time  0-2.

Tatlisu up their tempo

We were expecting a Tatlısu onslaught at the start of the second half, but it did not happen, play continued with YES looking quite comfortable in possession.

Kubilay had a near post shot beaten away by goalkeeper Hüseyin in the 59th minute as Tatlısu had their best spell of the match.

61 minutes and Tatlısu reduced the arrears with a good move when Hakan found Ibrahim who seemed to take too long on the ball before he squared the ball across to KUBILAY unmarked at the far post who turned it past Hüseyin 1-2

A minute later Umit scored but it was ruled offside.

For the rest of the match YES seemed content to defend deeply and leave one player upfront, holding on to what they had.

Tatlısu’s best move of the match came in injury time when Tansu found Hakan who sent in a perfect cross to the far post, where Tatlısu Captain Mustafa headed the ball only to see it go agonisingly wide of the near post. FULL TIME : 1-2.

This was another poor performance from Tatlisu, their third match on the trot. The only difference was that in the previous two matches Lady Luck was on Tatlisu side. This match they created virtually nothing so luck did not come into play.

Tatlisu Man Of The Match : Turgay Çil worked tirelessly in midfield trying to prompt his team.

Tatlisu Team : Hasan (gk) : Tansu, Barış, Mustafa ©, Ozal (Ibrahim 30) : Talha (Ümit 45), Turgay, Kubilay, Koray, Serkan, Soner (Hakan 60)

Next Tatlisu Match :

Sunday 11th June : ko 5-00pm: away Tatlisu v Karadeniz 61 SK at Yeni Boğazici Osman E Mehmet Stadi, Nr Iskele.
