Raising money for TULIPS (Help Those with Cancer)
The Spice Garden restaurant near Küçük Erenköy held a Raj evening on Thursday, 20 October and raised 777TL for EFRAR 2017.

Raj fancy dress was optional but several of the 26 people who attended entered into the spirit of the evening and the best dressed woman went to Mary Watson and the best dressed man went to John Creasey. Both received a bottle of wine donated by the restaurant.
After a sumptuous meal consisting of a poppadom or mixed starter followed by a chicken, lamb and vegetable curry with rice and naan bread, buffet style served at the tables, there was a short quiz and then a raffle with ten lucky winners taking home the prizes which ranged from a knitted Father Christmas to a small grill.
Mr Khalid Shahzad, owner of the restaurant said: “The evening went really well and everyone has said how much they enjoyed the meal. My staff and I enjoyed hosting the event and it was nice to see some had entered into the spirit of the evening by wearing costumes. It was a hard choice to pick the winners.”

Of the total of 777TL, 260TL was donated by Mr Shahzad who then handed over a further 100TL as a personal donation. The rest of the money was raised by the raffle and quiz. Mr Shahzad also presented Sue Steel with a bottle of white wine for hosting the quiz and raffle.

Mary Watson, Chair of EFRAR 2017 commented: “This has been a very enjoyable evening, something different from the norm for us and we hope we can do it again, perhaps in the spring.
“Our sincere thanks to Khalid and his staff for looking after us so well, to everyone who donated raffle prizes and to all those who attended”.
