For this week’s show due to popular demand we are showing again the Vox Pop interview when I went along with my camera crew to meet Paul Ashworth in Karmi where he has been living for the past three years although he moved to North Cyprus 12 years ago.
Paul was born in 1945 and lived in Ashton-under-Lyne before moving around the north west of the UK in his career firstly as an engineer before m
oving into sales selling medical supplies and then joining the NHS.
Whilst with the NHS Paul formed a company within it to sell medical supplies to various outlets which was highly successful. Interestingly in 2002 as the charity manager for NHS he managed the publication of a 2003 Naked Calendar in which he was Mr July and this raised £10,000.
Now fully retired, following 5 years working for a TRNC company as a consultant that supplied plastic grass, he now takes it easy and enjoys playing badminton, squash and a little football and looks back with fond memories of when he was involved with amateur dramatics and pantomimes in the UK.
