Captain of Gentlemen of Girne, Danish Afridi and Abdul Waris came to face CIU bowlers. GoG Creditwest opening pair Danish Afridi (15) runs and Abdul Waris (19) runs looked full of confidence when they made a solid partnership of 52 runs in just 5 overs and GoG Creditwest had a concrete platform.

After the opening pair none of GoG players had any strong partnership except 14 runs from new young talented all-rounder Kheyam Afridi with 14 runs with the help of two massive sixes and Sajjad Kamal 13 runs hit a huge six straight outside the ground. At one stage GoG looked that they could set a very big total for CIU to beat but unfortunately the whole team was dismissed on 79 runs.
CIU team went in to exert huge pressure when their best all-rounder Salman Khan was out without any runs, by bowler Sajjad Kamal and a beautiful catch by Janwali Khan at the boundary. CIU were in great trouble when they lost their second wicket when Saiullah Khan (3 runs) got clean bowled by Jawad Ahmadripper.
The turning point of the match was when Janwali Khan from GoG took two wickets in one over. After that Muhammad Sohail (25 runs) and captain of CIU Zaman Ali (06 runs) came to rescue their team. But it was clearly Gentlemen of Girne’s day, when Shahzad Malik took Muhammad Sohail’s wicket and after that none of the CIU batmen could stand against the Gentlemen of Girne awesome bowlers and the CIU team was all bowled out on 69 runs. Top bowler Shahzad Malik took four wickets for 21 runs, Sajjad Kamal two wickets, Janwali two and Jawad Ahmed and Kheyam and Afridi one wicket and the Gentlemen of Girne had won their second match in Creditwest Cricket League 2016

Second match on Sunday 10th of April 2016
Eastern Mediterrean University vs Near East University.
Muhammad Sohail and Zaman Ali from Cyprus International University were the official Umpires while Danish Afridi was the scorer for this match.

Near East University won the toss and elected to put EMU warriors in to bat first. EMU openers couldn’t last for a long time, as the team lost the opening batsman Zia Ullah early but again superb partnership from Captain Sohail Khilji and Majid Khan helped EMU to build a solid platform. Sohail Khilji managed to score 25 runs at a healthy strike rate. The rest of the work was done by outstanding batting from Ibrahim Amjad and Asif Ali. Asif Ali had some nice hits at the end overs supported by a patient knock by Waseem Khan, who held his nerve at the other end. EMU managed to put a fighting total of 140/8 in 20 overs on the board. Now it was the turn of NEU to chase down the total while facing the EMU strong bowling lineup.
The opening pair from NEU gave an impressive start Talha 13 runs and Muneeb 10, while handling the fast bowlers from EMU but soon they lost their first wicket in the 4th over. NEU couldn’t managed again to build a platform and the collapse started soon as Zia Ullah, who produced a beauty today for EMU, taking 5 wickets in 3 overs. That included 3 wickets in an over as well. Sohail Khilji again impressing everyone with some magical off-spins stealing 3 wickets for only 9 runs in 4 overs. Mayed Hussain and Omar Iqbal took 1 wicket each. NEU batting was restricted to a total of 103 runs all out on 109 runs, great knock from Raja Sarmad 20 runs and Risky 20 runs and EMU won the match by 37 runs in the Creditwest Cricket League 2016.
