2nd Traditional Yeşilırmak Strawberry Trek
By Margaret Sheard…..
We have been given news from our friends at Vouni King Restaurant and Hotel in Yeşilırmak of the 2nd
traditional Yeşilırmak Strawberry Trek which will take place on Sunday 27th March.
The trek will start at 09.00 at Vouni Palace which is the only ruin remaining from the Persian Empire in Cyprus and will continue to the area called “Daughter of Paradise” in which there is the chapel that represents three religions. According to the beliefs of these religions, the water that is flowing under the chapel is healing.
After 500 meters the trekkers will reach the pirate cave with two rooms and then there will be a visit to the largest verigo vine in
Cyprus which is featured in the Guinness Book of World Records.
There will also be an opportunity to photograph the famous Petra Island with its ruins from the Neolithic age.
For information and registration telephone 0533 864 4404 or 0533 840 9119
Having visited the area, at which time we came across the verigo vine, we found it to be a very beautiful and scenic part of the island which will appeal to those who like to get back to nature and of course an opportunity to see the huge number of strawberry beds for which the area is so well known. Most people living in North Cyprus will have indulged in strawberries from Yeşilırmak.
