Raising money for TULIPS (Help Those with Cancer)

The organising committee of the EFRAR 2016 are pleased to announce that Iktisatbank will, this year, be sponsoring the 5km run in memory of Marian Stokes.

An Iktisatbank spokesperson said: “Iktisatbank have been sponsors Marian Stokes 300of the Esentepe Fun Run and Ramble for the past 4 years with employees of the bank also taking part in the event each year. This year we are very proud to sponsor the 5km race which is to be held in memory of the late Marian Stokes who dedicated a lot of time to raising funds for Help Those with Cancer (Tulips). The EFRAR raises lots of funds for the Association each year and we are delighted that Iktisatbank are once again able to contribute to such a worthy charity, the Association does a wonderful job and it is great that we can help raise funds for such a good cause”

Richard Baumgart, Marian’s partner said: Marian was a strongly motivated woman who single-handedly ran the Home Buyers’ Pressure Group for 6 years. It was only when she was in severe pain and could not sit for hours that she sought medical advice and unfortunately was diagnosed with cancer.

From our initial meeting with the Association, they were patient, understanding and very well informed as to how to go forward. The Association set up the first appointments with the Oncology unit at the State hospital and it was only then we realized how the Association not only employed and paid for staff and nurses but also supplied and paid for the chemotherapy lounge in which patients could sit and receive their chemotherapy in a tranquil and comfortable environment.EFRaR logo

Marian truly believed in and endorsed the Association. They are a truly dedicated group who care very much about the individual and make a difference which is so important to the families of cancer sufferers as well as the patient”.

Art Watson, Chairman of E.F.R.A.R commented: “We feel that having a sponsored race and dedicating that race to someone who has experienced cancer is a fitting tribute and really focuses on the work that the Association does and what we are trying to do in with the EFRAR each year.  It benefits everyone”.
