North Cyprus Films are coming

The ‘Old Bard’ is coming to North Cyprus. That’s William Shakespeare! Well not the man himself, but a film crew and actors from the Globe Theatre in London are going to be filming here in March, with the help of North Cyprus Film.
April 23rd 2016 marks the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death. To mark the occasion a week-long festival is being held in London in April which will also feature 37 short films, shot in the locations that inspired old William to write his plays.
One such place is Othello’s Tower, located by the harbour and built into the old city walls of Famagusta.
Fortunately for the Globe Theatre and the film crew, the Tower has recently undergone a major refurbishment and so it should just as pristine as when the Bard himself was inspired to put pen to paper.
North Cyprus Film are also delighted that the Second Golden Island International Film Festival will be held in North Cyprus during October 2016 and I look forward as the local representative of GIIFF, to bring you further information as this becomes available.
