Kyrenia, Dr. Akçiçek Hospital
receives a donation of a Patient
Transport Vehicle

With bad weather in North Cyprus over the past days and ongoing reports of wars or political issues around the world it was so nice and refreshing to go out in the weak sun on Friday 20th February to the Girne Dr. Akçiçek Hospital. The reason for my visit was to witness the presentation of a wheelchair accessible patient transport vehicle for the new Renal Dialysis Unit which was as the result of a teamwork project hosted and organised by the Rotary Club of Kyrenia Liman.
The main fund-raisers for the purchase of this bus was the Rotary Club of Kyrenia Liman with assistance from Rotarians in Scotland, England and Turkey, The Friends of the TRNC Emergency Services and the Little Society of Kyrenia also volunteered fundraising abilities with further donations from local businesses and businessmen. Donations arrived from far afield as Australia with the Association of Turkish Cypriots Professionals making a contribution.
The day to day organisation of appointment schedules is the responsibility of the Dr. Akçiçek Hospital and a professional driver is to be supplied by the Mayor of Kyrenia, Nidai Güngördü on behalf of the Girne Municipality.
The reason for the purchase of this vehicle was to ensure patients requiring vital scheduled dialysis treatment for Kidney Disease and disorders
are transported to the hospital in a timely and reliable way. This will ensure that the equipment and highly trained staff are utilised in the most effective way, benefitting the maximum number of patients.
The presentation was witnessed by lots of media people, representatives of charities, hospital staff and friends and the TRNC Minister of Health Dr. Ahmet Gülle came to give his thanks for this very welcome donation to the hospital.
