Esentepe Fun, Run and Ramble 2015
Raising money for Tulips (Help Those with Cancer)
By Sue Steel….
Ibrahim (Ibo) Musa, aged 50, who was born in London but moved back to North Cyprus in 2012 so that he could be with his father near Esentepe, has struggled with his weight for more than 20 years and currently weighs in at 194kg but that is not stopping him from taking part in the 5km again this year.
Mr Musa said: “I lost my Mum to cancer in December 2008 so I wanted to do something for Tulips. I walked last year and did the 5km. It took me 2½ hours but I had incredible support from friends who walked with me for the whole 5kms”.
He continued, “I started putting on weight when I was about 28 due to depression and I turned to food as a comfort. I have struggled ever since. I have weighed as much 210kg but when I started walking my weight dropped to 170kg. Now I am setting myself that weight as a target to reach before the Fun Run. I am determined to walk more to build up my stamina and am confident I can reach my target weight and complete the 5kms again this year.”
Art Watson, Chairman of the EFRAR 2015 committee said: “Mr Musa is an inspiration to us all to set ourselves a target and just go for it. He completed the walk last year and I am fully confident he will do so again this year. He has been given his sponsorship form and is already looking for sponsors.”
If you would like to sponsor Mr Musa to do the Fun Run, you can contact him on 0533 8453775 or in person at Alkan Village near Esentepe.
