President Eroğlu : “Anastasiades wrongly assumes the Greek Cypriot side as the sole owner of the island and sovereignty only belongs to them”
President Derviş Eroğlu pointed out that the Greek Cypriot leader Nikos Anastasiades wrongly assumes the Greek Cypriot side as the sole owner of the island and sovereignty only belonged to them and added: “If it was the case there wouldn’t be any need for negotiations”.
Eroğlu indicated that the reason of the dilemma Anastasiades faced recently can be explained by his unwillingness to start the give-and-take process in the negotiations and lack of political will in reaching a comprehensive settlement.
Eroğlu said that from now on the international community is expected to recognize the feet dragging and playing for time tactics and attitude of the Greek Cypriot side and not to keep silent about it.
EU Minister Bozkır: “At a time when we move towards a solution in Cyprus, Turkey is against using the factors which will enable a solution, for the purpose of opening chapters.”

Pointing out that Chapters 23 and 24 are ready to be opened and are considered, Bozkır recorded that Turkey has no obstacles regarding their opening.
Immediate action and preservation work concerning Agios Nikolas Church is completed
Immediate action and preservation work concerning Agios Nikolas Church located in Yayla is completed with the cooperation of Cultural Heritage Technical Committee, European Union and UN Development Programme and a ceremony will be held today for the completion of the project.
Members of the Cultural Heritage Technical Committee – Ali Tuncay and Takis Hadjidemetriou made statements regarding the occasion and said completion of this project provided cooperation and the preservation of the hopes for a peaceful future that Turkish and Greek Cypriots will understand each other.
