Turkish President Erdoğan: “Window of opportunity cannot be open forever”

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated that their aim is to Recep Tayyip Erdoganmove the negotiation process to a simultaneous referendum process.

Adding that it should be comprehended by everyone that the current negotiation process cannot be open forever, Erdoğan said that no one has a right to put off the international community. Erdoğan also added that both sides will get advantages if a solution is reached in Cyprus and a solution will make a contribution to peace, stability and prosperity in the region.

Mentioning the water supply project from Turkey to TRNC, Erdoğan said that studies have been continuing speedily and it is planned to be completed within 2-3 months. Erdoğan also said that studies for the electricity project have been continuing and their project could give life to the whole island not only to North Cyprus as long as Greek Cypriot side holds a hand of peace to the Turkish Cypriot side.

Indicating that the TRNC has a modern democratic state structure, Erdoğan said that joint aim should be to transform the TRNC into a global attraction centre in the Eastern Mediterranean and to make per capita income double in the next 10 years.

Turkish President Erdoğan held a joint press conference with President Derviş Eroğlu at the Presidential Palace yesterday.

Eroğlu: “An agreement is possible if our Greek Cypriot neighbours abandon their dream for returning to pre-1974 period”

In his speech made during the press conference, President Derviş Eroğlu said that it is possible to make an Dervis Eroglu 9agreement by taking the realities of Cyprus into consideration and added “Our Greek Cypriot neighbours should abandon their dream for returning to pre-1974 period”.

Stressing that the Turkish Cypriot side is determined to reach a solution without delay; Eroğlu said that it is a great injustice to impose embargoes and isolations on the Turkish Cypriots in spite of their peaceful attitude.

Criticizing Greek Cypriot leader Anastasiades, Eroğlu said that the Greek Cypriot leader challenged UN parameters and put forth conditions in order to continue the negotiation process. He added: “Negotiation process has started but ongoing of negotiations is not as we desired.”

Moreover, Eroğlu underlined that his meeting with Erdoğan was very sincere and fruitful.

Turkish Prime Minister Davutoğlu will make his first overses visit to TRNC and Azerbaijan

Ahmet DavutogluTurkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu will make his first overseas visit to TRNC and Azerbaijan. According to the information gained from the Prime Ministry sources, Davutoğlu is expected to go to Konya following the vote of confidence on 6thSeptember.

The date of Davutoğlu’s first overseas visit is not clear yet.
